Chaos

MohammadReza PourKamali is a graduate student in sculpturing who has been working with concentration on iron sheets and has found the resistance and the manufactural capabilities of this material for expressing his concerns as a suitable context. He has been engaged with delving into and experiencing simple geometrical parts and the current collection is a selection of his works throughout last five years, the very vivid characteristic of it is its complicated shapes and expanding forms. The emergence of order out of chaos and creation of complex organizations simultaneously with aesthetic and meaningful expression at the face of form and material is of his occupations.

MohammadReza PourKamali’s sculptures are interwoven from triangular parts perpetuated into the space, following occupation and discovering the capabilities and abilities, are extended and abided on the very border of shapelessness and embodiment. Spectacular, colorful and bright, they conquer the space and transform it into something other than what it is. Like an invader or an army of stranger creatures, with their acute and poignant edge, cut through the air and forthrightly burdening themselves onto the space. They intervene the distance between themselves and the audience, breaking through the borders and playfully and reluctantly manipulate the space. They cannot be captured in one glance, but they urge the audiences’ embodied and intentional action and intervention. They make the space active and hectic and retouch the time and pace in their vicinity, causing pauses in the rhythm and disturb the distances. They are into causing chaos and with their unfamiliar twists and audacious forms, rebel against the current order and structure a different order.

Chaos is a collection of monstrous creatures, a shattered and yet unified embodiment which is beyond representation derived from our lived experiences and conditions, a manifestation of intricate and intertwined feelings and emotions which is inscrutable.
